KERI AMUNDSON is my friend. She is also a Smooch! Project Hero, one of the more than 100 people who have contributed their time and energy to the project over the last four-and-a-half years. I can easily demonstrate Keri’s uniqueness in several ways. You can see from her Smooch! Archive photo that she has a great sense of humor and doesn’t mind being silly every once in awhile. She and hubby Greg are busy raising 12-year-old Mikaela (who has also qualified to become a Smooch! Hero, were she were old enough. Thanks for your help, Mikaela!). Keri is a high energy, dynamic woman who successfully balances a fulltime job with the needs of her family. She supports The Smooch! Project by offering optimism when mine is flagging, constructive criticism when I need it, and time when asked to help collate more than a thousand postcards, thereby easily earning her Smooch! Project Hero status. But what I really want to tell you about Keri is her similarity to other equally important people who surround The Smooch! Project. Keri is a perfect example of the many open-hearted, generous individuals who have supported The Smooch! Project with their ongoing love and energy. She gets it. In her own words, Keri understands that our “overall mission is to capture moments of happiness and share them with as many people as possible . . . because seeing happiness brings happiness.” Frankly, without people like Keri in my world, I wouldn’t want to continue this effort and The Smooch! Project would fail to reach its goal of collecting 10,000 images from around the world. THAT’S what’s so important about Keri, as far as The Smooch! Project is concerned. She says she’s “lucky to be considered a Hero.” Well, I feel very clear that I’m the lucky one in this equation. Perhaps all of you who love The Smooch! Project too will join me in saying “Thank You!” to Keri and all the others like her who support this amazing project. Good job, Hero!
